Muck Away

Streamline Your Construction Project with Professional Muck Away Services

Efficiently managing waste is a critical component of any successful construction, landscaping, or excavation project. The accumulation of materials like soil, rubble, and other debris can lead to project delays, safety hazards, and increased costs. Muck away services offer a streamlined solution for the removal and disposal of large volumes of waste from your site, ensuring it remains clear, safe, and compliant with regulations. This service is essential for projects that generate significant amounts of waste, providing a cost-effective and efficient method for waste removal.

Muck away, also known as muck shifting, involves the transportation and disposal of excavated materials from construction sites. These materials can include soil, concrete, bricks, and other inert debris generated during construction activities. Professional muck away services utilise specialised vehicles, such as grab lorries and tipper trucks, to collect and transport this waste to appropriate disposal or recycling facilities. At Civio, we specialise in providing professional muck away services tailored to your project’s unique needs, ensuring your site is left clear and prepared for the next phase of your programme.

The types of waste handled by muck away services are typically categorised as inert, non-hazardous, and hazardous. Inert waste includes non-reactive materials like soil and hardcore that are often recyclable. Non-hazardous waste encompasses general construction debris, while hazardous waste consists of materials that could be harmful to public health or the environment, such as contaminated soil, which requires special handling and disposal.

Muck Away FAQs

What types of waste can Civio remove?

Civio can remove most types of non-hazardous construction waste. This includes inert muck like soil, clay, and chalk, as well as hardcore materials such as broken concrete, bricks, and rubble. If you have potentially contaminated soil or other hazardous materials, please contact us directly to discuss your specific requirements, as these require special handling and disposal procedures.

As a licenced waste carrier, Civio is committed to environmental responsibility. All the waste we collect is transported to a registered waste transfer station or recycling facility. There, it is screened and processed to separate recyclable materials like hardcore and soil for reuse in other construction projects. Our goal is to divert as much waste as possible from landfill.

We recommend booking as far in advance as possible to secure your preferred date and time, especially for large projects. However, we understand that projects can be dynamic. We can often arrange for a collection with just 24-48 hours’ notice, subject to vehicle availability. For urgent or same-day requirements, please call us directly, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our grab and tipper lorries are large HGVs (Heavy Goods Vehicles) and require adequate access to operate safely and efficiently. Typically, we need a site entrance that is at least 3 metres wide with clear overhead access, free from low-hanging cables, tree branches, or other obstructions. The ground must also be firm and stable enough to support the lorry’s weight, especially in wet weather. If you have any concerns about access to your site, please let us know when booking so we can assess the situation.

Our service is usually priced on a ‘per load’ basis, which is often more cost-effective and convenient than hiring multiple skips, especially for large quantities of waste. Unlike a skip, you don’t need a permit if the lorry is loaded on a private site, and the waste is removed on the same day. The final price depends on your location and the type of material being removed (e.g., clean inert soil vs. mixed construction waste). We always provide a clear, no-obligation quote upfront so you know the full cost before work begins.
